ahh nice jakey could you try to make anime sigs ?

Hmm'z.. your backgrounds are ok, just the effects you put on top of it doesn't look too good.. the orange effect you put on your render doesn't seem too good.. as sandy said.. make Anime sigs.. it's better.. once you get used to that you can try real people..

Like everyone said, it's very plain. Mm, c4ds aren't ALWAYS the answer though.
I think there's basically two things there: a render and a lens flare. That lens flare is a bit distracting and takes away from the render, which I'm guessing should be the focal. Read up on more tuts and stuff.

Sorry, I have no idea what that means, all I do is play around in GIMP.

I like it because it's plain and simple.

@Lighty.. I agree but C4Ds are good to start with
@Jakey.. C4Ds are Cinema4D Renders.. there are 3 types.. Normal, Effects and Line C4Ds.. normal C4Ds don't have an effect when it's placed in a different blending mode.. effect C4Ds do have an effect.. which is quite nisch.. line C4Ds.. well.. you don't need to go into that yet.. it's quite complicated to use well.. so ye I've explained MANY times to MANY people about how to use C4Ds well.. I really can't be bothered to do it again =\.. So.. I told SE how to.. just ask him if you need to know

Yeah and can someone give me a reason why I need Photoshop. Because I asked my mum for it and she said "what I got now (gimp) is already fine isn't it."

Pretty good IMO for a first sig in Photoshop

Its not to bad for your first attempt at photoshop Jakey.
And, you dont need photoshop, there's plenty free grafix programs out there, use them, not just one of them, download a few and use them for getting different effects as you need them.
And then, there's always (Pssst!! y'know!!) for grafix programs..
But for now, gimp, paint.net with boltbaits free add-ons, serifs free programs etc etc etc.

Hmm'z.. not bad.. you shouldn't use that filter and do nothing after it Set it on a blending mode and erase what's covering the render.. don't cover the render for now .. text is ok.. lighting it quite bad.. but still nisch work for your first try in PS

Hmm'z.. not bad actually. The background is nisch.. the text is good and is stands out The black and white filter/adjustment layer/whatever makes it even better. But it's quite plain, a background and text :p But nisch
